Microsoft is getting ready to roll out the Xbox April update, which will bring a redesigned search experience and the ability to adjust active hours for the Sleep power option. The last notable Xbox update happened in February when Microsoft introduced carbon-aware game downloads and the ability to use your phone as a remote control for your Xbox with the Google Home app.

The redesigned search page introduced in the Xbox April update adds a new color profile, gallery-style results, and filter categories below the search bar that can be accessed using the LB and RB buttons. There’s also a new option to search on YouTube within the Movies & TV tab.

If you use the Sleep power option on your console, this update will also let you adjust active hours when your console will start up instantly. Outside of active hours, Xbox consoles will fully shut down to save energy.

On Xbox Series X|S consoles, boot times are actually not that long and Microsoft making Shutdown (energy saving) option the default setting on all consoles shouldn’t be too disruptive. This mode makes consoles draw just 0.5 watts, and it also enables carbon-aware updates.

As of this writing, the Xbox April update isn’t available yet, but you can check for updates on your console by going to Settings > System > Updates. The new bits should also be installed automatically when you’re not using your console.
