Latest iOS 13 Beta Teases Potential Launch Date for Next-Gen iPhones

Posted August 15, 2019 | Apple | iOS | iPhone 11 | iPhone 11 Pro | iPhone 11 Pro Max | Mobile | Windows

Apple released a new beta of iOS 13 to developers today. With beta 7, the company made a number of changes and fixes. But more notably, it may have just leaked the launch date for its next-gen iPhones.

First spotted by iHelp BR (via 9to5Mac), the new beta of iOS 13 includes a file called “HoldForRelease” which has the date of Tuesday, September 10th on the Calendar app icon within the screenshot. The file will likely be used for when people actually run iOS 13 on the new iPhones.

So yes, September 10 is probably going to be Apple’s next event where the company launches new hardware. Apple has released new iPhones around the same time every September, so this isn’t a big surprise.

As for what is to expect from these new iPhones, there are a bunch of different rumors. Recent reports suggested things like a three-camera set up for two of the more premium iPhones this year, with other features like an updated front-facing camera, new Taptic Engine, and the A13 processor. Reports are also hinting at the possible branding scheme for this year’s iPhone — Apple might adopt a new “Pro” branding for the premium iPhones (iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max), calling them the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Max, while the regular iPhone Xr will simply be called the iPhone 11.

Still, there is a lot to know about what Apple’s been cooking up, and with less than a month go to the launch, I am sure we will get to know more about the upcoming iPhones.
