Microsoft is today releasing a new build of Windows 10 from its 2020 branch to Insiders today. The company is releasing build 18845 to Insiders in the Skip Ahead program, and it’s not much of a major update.

In terms of new features, the only new feature you are getting with today’s build is improved Emoji 12.0 support. Microsoft earlier introduced all the new emoji part of Emoji 12.0 with build 18277, but it’s now improving Emoji 12.0 support. The update makes it so you can access the new emoji from the Windows 10 emoji shortcut, allowing you to quickly search and use the new emoji throughout the OS simply by WIN+(period) or WIN+(semicolon).

Keep in mind that Windows 10 20H1 is the update Microsoft will release sometime in 2020, and that is kind of confusing as Microsoft will still be releasing 19H2 builds later this year. The company is yet to provide concrete reasoning behind exactly why it is already testing the 2020 update before we are done with updates for the year. The only thing we know so far is that some of the features in the 20H1 release will “require a longer lead time” and so Microsoft is already starting to test the new builds with Insiders.
