Less than a week after its last Windows 10 Insider Preview build for Fast ring testers, Microsoft has delivered a new build, 16232, which adds several new security features aimed at the enterprise.

“Earlier this week, we announced new end-to-end security features coming with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update,” Microsoft’s Dona Sarkar notes, referring to a previous announcement. “This build for PC includes some of those new security features.”

Here’s what’s new.

No more app updates for now. As it does from time-to-time, Microsoft is freezing the delivery of new app updates to users of this build. Instead, you will need to keep using the app versions that shipped with the build. Which means you may see some new features temporarily disappear. It’s curious to me that Microsoft is doing this testing so early in the process: I bet they intend to finalize the Fall Creators Update by early August at the latest in order to meet the September street date.

Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG) improvements. For those Insiders testing Enterprise edition, WDAG has been updated to support Microsoft Edge data persistence. You can learn more about this functionality on the Microsoft support forums.

Exploit Protection. Now, you can audit, configure, and manage Windows system and application exploit mitigation settings from the Windows Defender Security Center. This version of Exploit Protection is not full-featured yet, and it will be improved in future builds, Microsoft says.

Controlled folder access in Windows Defender Antivirus. This feature helps you monitor the changes that apps make to files in specific protected folders and then block changes made by blacklisted apps.

Numerous other changes, improvements, and fixes, and known issues. This build contains a ton of other changes and some known issues. Check out the Microsoft blog post for the complete list.
