Twitter Top Executives Are Out After Elon Musk Takeover
Elon Musk concluded his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter yesterday, ending a weird episode of uncertainty that spiraled into a legal battle. The Tesla CEO concluded the deal just a day before the acquisition deadline, and he has since changed his Twitter bio to “Chief Twit.”
As reported by the Washington Post, Musk has already fired several top Twitter executives including Chief executive Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, and Head of legal policy, trust, and safety Vijaya Gadde. “The top executives were hastily escorted out of the company’s San Francisco headquarters,” the report said.
Before taking over the company, Musk tried to send some reassuring messages to users, advertisers, and investors. “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence,” Musk explained.

“Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences,” he continued. In the conclusion to his message to advertisers, Musk said that “Fundamentally, Twitter aspires to be the most respected advertising platform in the world that strengthens your brand and grows your enterprise.”
According to the Washington Post, Musk will hold a company-wide town hall today. The new chief of Twitter is expected to make the company private and disband its board of directors. If Musk claims to have acquired Twitter to “help humanity,” he also acknowledged that “failure in pursuing this goal, despite our best efforts, is a very real possibility.”
