Amazon announced today that it is making one perk of its Prime membership even more valuable: Previously, Prime members could access a curated library of 2 million songs via Amazon Music as part of their membership. But now, Amazon is giving members access to the entire 100 million-plus song catalog as part of the same membership.

There is, of course, one major limitation: Prime members can only shuffle-play content. They cannot arbitrarily play any song in the catalog.

“We’ve expanded our music benefit for Prime members to bring them 100 million songs in shuffle mode, the most ad-free top podcasts available, and features that make it easier to discover new content in the Amazon Music app—all at no additional cost to their membership,” the About Amazon blog explains. “Prime members can explore music and podcasts based on their likes; shuffle play any artist, album, or playlist in the catalog; and stream a collection of All-Access playlists tailored to personalized listening preferences on demand and available to download for offline listening.”

Additionally, Prime members will benefit from many ad-free podcasts, new Amazon Exclusive podcasts, and a refreshed Amazon Music app.

Of course, this change blurs the line between Amazon Music, which is free to Prime members, and Amazon Music Unlimited, which costs $9.99 per month for non-members and $8.99 per month for Prime members. But those who pay still gain additional features, including the ability to play any song at any time, lossless HD quality music on all tracks, Ultra HD quality on millions of tracks, thousands of expert-programmed playlists and stations, and a growing catalog of spatial audio content mastered in Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio.
