A Vietnamese tech blog has gotten its hands on a Pixel 7a phone two months before Google is expected to announce it at I/O 2023.

Here are the details:

Camera bar improvements. Where the Camera bar on the Pixel 6a was plastic, the version on the 7a will be metal, like that on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, and it features an updated design that, if anything, looks even better than that on the Pixel 7.

Screen. Like the Pixel 6a, the Pixel 7a will ship with a smallish 6.1-inch display. But the new handset will feature a 90 Hz refresh rate, up from 60 Hz on its predecessor.

Dual cameras. Like the Pixel 6a, the Pixel 7a will ship with two camera lenses, a wide lens and an ultra-wide lens, both of which offer 12 MP of resolution. It’s not clear if anything has changed here.

RAM/storage. This pre-release unit Pixel 7a has 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB of storage, compared to 6 GB/128 GB for the Pixel 6a. It’s not clear how fast the storage is, however: the Pixel 6a utilizes UFS 3.1 storage.

And that’s about it. Assuming it’s priced similarly to the Pixel 6a, this should be another great choice for the entry-level smartphone market.
