Netflix Basic with Ads, the company’s new ad-supported plan will officially launch on November 3. It will be priced at $6.99/month in the US, which is just $3 cheaper than the Netflix Basic plan that only supports one user and 720p streams.

The new Netflix Basic with Ads plan will only be available in select markets at launch: the list includes Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, the UK, and the US.

Just like with the Netflix Basic plan, the video quality will be restricted to 720p. However, users will see an average of 4 to 5 minutes of ads every hour. The 15 to 30 seconds ad breaks will play before and during films and TV shows.

“To help advertisers reach the right audience — and ensure our ads are more relevant for consumers — we’ll offer broad targeting capabilities by country and genre. Advertisers will also be able to prevent their ads from appearing on content that might be inconsistent with their brand,” said Greg Peters, Netflix’s Chief Product Officer and COO.

Netflix Basic with Ads also won’t include a “limited number” of movies and TV shows due to licensing restrictions, though Netflix said that it’s working to address this. Moreover, Netflix with Ads subscribers won’t be able to download content for offline viewing.

“We’re confident that with Netflix starting at $6.99 a month, we now have a price and plan for every fan,” Peters said today. In addition to Netflix, Disney+ will also launch an ad-supported plan at $7.99/month in December. According to a new report from Digiday, Apple is also interested in introducing ads on its Apple TV platform.
