Microsoft has just released new Windows 11 preview builds for Insiders on the Dev and Beta channels. The build 25206 for Dev Channel testers brings a change to the SMB authentication rate limiter, with a new protection mechanism against brute force attacks being turned on by default.

This new build also brings other minor changes. If you have an external monitor 120+Hz monitor that supports Variable Refresh rate, you can now save power by using the system-level Dynamic Refresh Rate (https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/dynamic-refresh-rate/) feature on it. The feature requires to have a WDDM 3.1 GPU driver installed, the Windows Insider team emphasized.

Starting with this build, Microsoft is also rolling out the redesigned “Open with” dialog box to all Insiders in the Dev channel. The company is testing a change to suppose the use of clipboard history (WIN + V) on password fields.

For Windows Insiders on the Beta channel, the Windows 11 builds 22622.601 and 22621.601 are also available today. This time, both groups of Insiders are receiving the same set of bug fixes. Microsoft has addressed an issue where clicking the network icon on the Lock screen would not work and would crash the Lock screen. Another issue that was affecting dual SIM calling has also been fixed.

That’s it for today’s builds for Insiders. The updates are pretty minor, but this week is pretty special as Microsoft just started rolling out Windows 11 version 22H2 yesterday. The company also confirmed that File Explorer Tabs and other features will be coming to all users in a separate update in October.
