Microsoft is Expanding xCloud to New Regions

Posted November 11, 2020 | Cloud Gaming | Games | Microsoft | Project Xcloud | Windows | Xbox

While the ‘new-console’ smell of the Xbox Series X and S is still in the air, Microsoft is making more announcements this week that are tied to xCloud. Specifically, the company is announcing new regions where the service will enter a limited trial.

On November 18th, if you live in Australia, Brazil, Japan or Mexico, you can sign up for the preview of ‘Cloud Gaming’ in those countries. During the preview, gamers will be able to play Minecraft Dungeons, The Master Chief Collection, Forza Horizon 4, PUBG, Black Desert, and Yakuza 0.

As expected, you will only be able to play xCloud preview on Android phones and tablets in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese. If you would like to register for the preview, you can do so here.

Following the path of previous trials of xCloud, Microsoft will first start testing with a small group of users and slowly expand to add more users to the beta group. And in 2021, the service will likely be integrated into Game Pass Ultimate if testing in those regions goes well.

While we all wait for Microsoft to bring xCloud, or ‘Cloud Gaming’ to the desktop, for those living in Australia, Brazil, Japan or Mexico, you now have a new option for playing Xbox content when away from your console.
