Microsoft is releasing the May Xbox update on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles today. This new update improves the existing Discord integration by adding the ability to see the Xbox gamertags of Discord users in the same voice channel.

Currently, Xbox users who link their Discord account to their Xbox account can join Discord voice channels on any server from the Xbox guide. This is a nice alternative to the native Xbox Live party chat, but until now, adding Discord members in a voice channel as a contact on Xbox Live wasn’t easy.

After installing the May Xbox update, Xbox users in a Discord voice channel will be able to see the Xbox gamertags of other participants right from the Xbox guide. “This makes it easier to add each other as Xbox friends and send each other Xbox game invites,” the Xbox team emphasized.

The May Xbox update also introduces new sort and filter options in the Microsoft Store. The various filters include price, accessibility features, supported languages, spatial audio, progress-saving options, and more.

Microsoft is also testing a change to make Xbox Game Pass Quests easier to find. These quests are currently visible from the Gaming tab on personal profiles, but a subset of users will now find these quests in a new Rewards tab. Microsoft is experimenting with making Xbox Game Pass quests accessible from the Xbox guide. If you go to the Profile & System tab and select your profile, you may see a new “My Rewards” option on your profile card.

Lastly, Microsoft is also rolling out a new Xbox Wireless Controller firmware update alongside the May Xbox update. The Xbox team says that it includes “bug fixes for unexpected slow battery drain” in Xbox Elite Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive controllers, as well as regular controllers that use the Xbox rechargeable battery. There’s also a fix for disconnect issues that may happen when using headphones with 4K, 120Hz, and Variable Refresh Rate enabled.

As of this writing, the May Xbox update isn’t available yet but you can check for updates later today by going to Settings > System > Updates.
