The Apple rumoursphere has gone round and round on the thorny question of when Apple will launch its next-generation MacBook Pro (expected to come with an M1X processor, rather than a full version bump to M2).

At one stage there were high hopes it would appear at WWDC earlier this month, but the event proved to be software-only. Sources quickly recalibrated their expectations to autumn 2021.

That theory has been boosted by new information from the Twitter account Dylandkt, which a couple of times before has published information about tech launches that later proved to be correct.

Dylan claims that the new MacBook Pro, in both 14in and 16in sizes, will “definitely” be launched during the fourth quarter of the year, probably in late October or early November.

At the same event, a new Mac mini will also be launched, if we are to believe Dylan’s sources. In a follow-up tweet he claims the Mac mini is also a definite, but says a new iMac Pro “most likely” won’t be released.

(We’d agree on the iMac Pro. Apple discontinued the line as recently as this spring, so a new model would indeed be a big surprise.)
