Lenovo Introduces New ThinkPad Devices With Intel Whiskey Lake Chips

Posted December 17, 2018 | Hardware | Lenovo | ThinkPad | ThinkPad L390 | ThinkPad L390 Yoga | Windows

Lenovo is today introducing the new ThinkPad L390 and the L390 Yoga devices today. Both the devices are the company’s latest additions to the ThinkPad line, and although they may not be the most powerful of all the ThinkPad products, they still come with some new goodies.

Both the ThinkPad L390 and the ThinkPad L390 Yoga are the first ever ThinkPad devices to be powered by Intel’s 8th gen Whiskey Lake chips. These new processors are slightly more powerful than the previous gen, offering Gigabit WiFi. Both these devices come with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and you can get up to 512GB of PCIe storage.

There isn’t a huge difference between both the devices, to be honest. The Yoga variant can simply be used in different modes — meaning that it has a 360-degree hinge that lets you use the display lying down flat, and you can use the Lenovo Active Pen to ink on the device. It also supports face recognition with Windows Hello, while the regular L390 only comes with a fingerprint scanner.

Both the devices feature a 45Wh battery, though the regular L390 will apparently offer 2 more hours of battery life than the Yoga variant.

They are available in black and silver variants, with the L390 starting at $659 and the L390 Yoga starting at $889.
