Google announced some product updates during a search and AI event in Paris earlier today. If many expected Google’s new Bard chatbot to be the highlight of today’s event, especially after Microsoft unveiled its AI-powered Bing yesterday, Google’s new chatbot actually got little stage time.

The whole event was a bit underwhelming, and as of this writing, Google has made the event video private. However, Google did announce some updates that are rolling out now: The first one is multisearch, a new Lens feature that will let mobile users search for content using text and images at the time.

Multisearch requires the Google app for iOS and Android, where users can tap the Lens icon to either start a search from a screenshot or a real picture. With multisearch, users can tap the “+ Add to your search button” in the app to add a question about what’s in the selected picture.

Multisearch in Google Lens is currently available in beta in the US, and Google says that it currently works best for shopping searches. We’re also exploring ways in which this feature might be enhanced by MUM– our latest AI model in Search– to improve results for all the questions you could imagine asking,” the company said today.

Google has also started rolling out Immersive view in Google Maps today. The feature is going live in London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo, and it lets users explore these cities with immersive aerial images and see the inside of buildings. Immersive view also has a time slider to see places under different time and weather conditions.

Lastly, the company also announced new updates for its Google Translate service today. The iOS app is getting a redesign in the coming weeks, and Google Translate is also adding more contextual translation options with descriptions later this month.
