Google is expanding its VPN by Google One offering to the desktop. The Google One VPN launched on mobile earlier this year, and you can now use it on Windows and macOS if you have a Google One Premium plan with 2TB of storage or higher ($9.99/month or $99/year).

Just like any other VPN, the Google VPN can protect your online activity by making your data transit through an encrypted tunnel. However, using the Google VPN won’t prevent the company from collecting data when you use its other cloud services.

If you have the required Google One subscription, you can download the Google VPN from the Google One website starting today. You’ll need a PC running Windows 10 or Windows 11 (there’s no native ARM support) or a Mac running macOS Big Sur or newser.

Google will let you share access to the Google One VPN with up to five family members at no additional cost. This offer applies to Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac devices.

If you already pay for a VPN in addition to a Google One subscription, switching to Google’s VPN could be an interesting alternative especially since you can use it across multiple devices and share it with family members.
