Google is rolling out some important updates to its video calling app Google Meet. the company is announcing four new features for Google Meet this week.

The first new feature is the ability to see more people at once in a call. Previously, Google Meet used to show only 4 participants at once, but the new tiled layout for larger calls is now able to show 16 people at once. That’s still much lower than what Zoom supports (48 participants at once), but it beats Microsoft Teams’ 9 participants view.

The new tiled layout is only available for Meet on the web, and Google says it’s working to introduce better presentation layouts and support for more devices in the future.

Google Meet’s new update also allows users to share a single Chrome tab instead of the entire window or screen which is a really nice addition. It’s getting two other advanced features as well.

First up is the new low-light meet, which uses AI to automatically adjust your video to make you more visible when you are making calls in low-light conditions. The feature is only available for mobile users for now, with web support expected in the future:

And lastly, Meet is also getting noise-cancellation for when you are making calls from an environment with lots of background noise.  The new feature is able to intelligently filter out background noise to focus on your voice. The new feature is rolling out to G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers in the coming weeks. It will only be available for web users to begin with, and mobile support is expected to arrive later on.
