Epic Games announced today that it has already raised $36 million to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, all thanks to Fortnite. The announcement comes just a day after the Fortnite developer said that for a limited time, it would be committing all of its Fortnite proceeds for humanitarian relief for Ukraine.

“All real-money Fortnite purchases made between March 20, 2022 and April 3, 2022 will be distributed. This includes V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, gifted Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs such as the Voidlander Pack sold for real money. Retail store purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Bucks cards will also be included if they are redeemed in-game during this window,” Epic Games explained.

Despite being free-to-play, Fortnite has become an incredible cash machine for Epic Games in recent years. It’s a true pop culture phenomenon and an increasingly important marketing vessel for many other entertainment industries. The fact that the game generated $36 million in revenue in just a day for a really good cause is a real testament to the importance of the video games industry across the world.

Epic Games will be committing all its Fortnite proceeds to humanitarian relief in Ukraine from March 20, 2022 through April 3, 2022, and the company said that Xbox will also be committing their net proceeds for Fortnite during this time. Fortnite had over 350 million registered players as of May 2020, and it will be exciting to see how much money Epic Games can raise through Fortnite over the next two weeks.

As for the actual Fortnite game, the brand new Chapter 3: Season 2 has removed the title’s signature building feature from its main battle royale mode. If you previously found Fortnite difficult to get into because of building, now should be a good time to give the game another try.
