Apple releases macOS Catalina security fix

Posted June 3, 2020 | Mac

In addition to Monday’s software updates for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Watch, Apple has also released a minor additional update for macOS Catalina 10.15.5.

The update patches a serious vulnerability that can be used to run malicious code, so users are advised to install the update as soon as possible.

In related news, Apple has also released the first pre-release version of macOS Catalina 10.15.6 to registered developers, but there seems to be no major news compared to the current version.

Given that macOS 10.16 will be with us soon (it will be demonstrated at WWDC 2020 on 22 June), it wouldn’t make sense to add a lot more features in Catalina. The focus will remain on bug and security fixes.

Read our guide to the latest version of Catalina for advice on bugs and fixes. And here’s how to update macOS.
