Apple Announces New Entry-Level 10.2-inch iPad
Apple is announcing a brand-new iPad today along with the three new iPhones. The company’s new entry-level iPad is slightly bigger than the last generation, but it’s not a huge update by any means.
Apple first launched the iPad 9.7 back in 2010. It last refreshed the device in 2018, aimed at students. Coming in at $329, the device was perfect for those who wanted an affordable iPad and don’t need the power of the iPad Pro. Today, Apple is upgrading the device with a 10.2-inch Retina display. It’s getting rid of the 9.7-inch model, replacing it with the new 7th gen iPad. The 10.2-inch display is a nice upgrade, but the thick bezels around the device aren’t really pretty at all.
Apple’s new 7th gen iPad also comes with the A10 Fusion chip, like the previous model. Like the older model, the new iPad also supports Apple Pen. But for the first time ever, the entry-level iPad now comes with support for the smart connector, letting you attach a keyboard. The enclosure of the device is also made out of 100% recycled aluminium for the first time ever. And that’s pretty much it with the new 7th gen iPad.
The new device starts at $329, just like the previous iPad 9.7. It will be available on September 30, you can order today. Students also get to buy the new iPad for only $299.
