New Windows 11 Insider Build Brings System Stray Updates to the Beta Channel
Microsoft has released today new Windows 11 Preview builds for Insiders on the Beta channel. The build 22623.746 is rolling out to the sub-group of Beta testers receiving new features, and the build 22621.746 is headed to the other group with all new features off by default.
In the Windows 11 Insider build 22623.746, there are two changes for the System Tray. Previously, Microsoft introduced a rounded focus and hover treatment on all System Tray icons in the build 22623.730. With today’s build, select Insiders will now be able to rearrange System Tray icons as well.
“As a reminder, these System Tray updates are still rolling out and are not available to all Insiders just yet. If your PC does not have these changes, your System Tray experience will remain the same as before,” the Windows Insider team said.
If you’re one of the Beta channel Insiders that received the new tablet-optimized taskbar and the System Tray updates we mentioned earlier, there’s also a bug fix for you: If the “automatically hide the taskbar” option is enabled on your PC, right-clicking app icons in the system tray will no longer dismiss the taskbar.
While there’s no new build for Dev Channel testers today, Microsoft did roll out yesterday a new version of the Photos app on the Dev Channel. The new Photos app can now integrate with Apple’s iCloud Photo Library, making it much easier to see your iPhone photos on a Windows 11 PC. For it to work, you’ll need to sign into the iCloud for Windows app on your PC and ensure that “Photos” is selected.
