Surface Studio 3 Passes Through the FCC
As Microsoft is expected to announce new Surface devices during its October 12 event, the Surface Studio 3 has apparently passed through the FCC. Indeed, the device appeared in a recent FCC report from September 16, 2022 (via Windows Central).
While the report is no longer available, it indicated that the new desktop PC was running Windows 11. A picture of the Surface Studio 3 was also included, and the new device looks pretty much identical to the Surface Studio 2 from 2018.
The first two Surface Studio models earned praise for their excellent 28-inch 4500×3500 touchscreen. Their “zero gravity hinge” also allows the screen to move between a vertical and canvas mode with light pressure. The Surface Studio 3 will apparently stick with this design, though we don’t know what’s under the hood yet.
Four years ago, the Surface Studio 2 launched with a $3,499 starting price in the US, and it also shipped with outdated Intel 7th gen Core i7 CPUs. Microsoft actually made an exception to its Windows 11 minimum system requirements to make the Surface Studio 2 eligible for the update.
Surface devices are not known for shipping with the latest and greatest specs, though it will be interesting to see if the Surface Studio 3 will launch with a lower entry price. Microsoft is also expected to announce the Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 during its October 12 event.
