Microsoft Renames Update Channels on Android, iOS, and Mac
In June, Microsoft changed its update channel names for Microsoft 365 applications on Windows, and it’s now doing so on Android, iOS, and Mac as well.
“We are rolling out these changes to iOS, Mac, and Android to bring consistency to update channel names across all the platforms on which Office is available,” the Office Insider Engagement Team writes in a new post to the Office Insider blog. “Only the names of the existing update channels are changing. These update channels still work the same way as they did before.”
On Android and Mac, Insider Fast has been renamed to the Beta Channel. And Insider Slow has been renamed to Current Channel (Preview).
On iOS, the Insider channel has been renamed to the Beta Channel.
These name changes actually rolled out at the end of last month, Microsoft notes, so it’s possible you’ve already seen them in documentation, application user interfaces, or Microsoft AutoUpdate (on Mac).
