OnePlus 6 and 6T start receiving official Android 10 updates
According to Google, a number of companies that didn’t exactly rush to start Android 9.0 Pie rollouts plan to do better this time around and deliver the latest OS version to “some of their devices” by the end of the year. The list includes the likes of Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Asus, but when it comes to the fastest OEMs to bring major new software updates to the table, OnePlus and Nokia continue to vie for the world crown.
The company’s staged rollout allowed it to catch a fingerprint bug on the non-T OnePlus 6 early on, fixing said bug before many people could be affected and preparing a “gradual” release of a stable upgrade “starting from later today.” Of course, other small glitches might still crop up as the updates reach more and more users, but knowing OnePlus, further bug fixes will also come soon.
As you can imagine, the Android 10-based OxygenOS 10.0 changelog is pretty much identical to what the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro received back in September. That means OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T owners should gear up for a “brand new UI design”, as well as enhanced privacy, a couple of added full screen gestures for a more intuitive navigation experience, a new Game Space feature bringing all your favourites together in one place, and a bunch of other bigger and smaller tweaks.
What you don’t get here is the ability to hide your notch, although OnePlus seems to suggest the popular feature will return in a future software update. Another thing you’ll obviously have to wait for is an official Android 10 promotion for the T-Mobile-specific OnePlus 6T (as well as the 7 Pro).
