Leaked Nokia 8.2 5G specs include unreleased Snapdragon, lots of storage

Samsung, Huawei, LG, and OnePlus have so far focused on flagship-level 5G smartphones that cost a small fortune and aren’t very accessible. HMD Global hopes to fix this next year with a cheaper 5G device that’ll still offer a considerable amount of power.According to the folks over at NokiaPowerUser, a tip provided by a source who wishes to remain anonymous claims the upcoming Nokia 8.2 5G will be powered by Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 735. This chipset’s expected to succeed the Snapdragon 730 and sit directly below the next-gen Snapdragon 865 when it arrives in early 2020.
Today’s tip makes quite a bit of sense because Qualcomm and HMD have already teased a smartphone powered by an unreleased Snapdragon 700-series chip that’s compatible with 5G networks. It should be built on a 7-nanometer manufacturing process and introduce a next-gen AI Engine.
The same source also mentioned a number of storage configurations. Specifically, the standard model will reportedly feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, although 6/128GB and 8/256GB versions are said to be in the works too. Previous reports suggest the Nokia 8.2 5G’s feature set will be completed by a pop-out camera, an all-screen design, and a circular camera module on the rear that’s home to a 64-megapixel primary sensor.
The Nokia 8.2 5G is expected to make its debut in late February 2020 at the annual MWC gathering in Barcelona.
